Task management can help individuals achieve their goals, or groups of individuals collaborate and share knowledge for the accomplishment of collective goals. Managing tasks in Outlook and Salesforce is made easier through these platforms’ integration. You can create a task, update the task and get status updates.
We can create a new task from the New Items menu by selecting Task.
This will open the New Task window.
Complete this various fields and select Save and Close.
At any time, you can send a status report to your colleagues and contacts by clicking the Send Status Report icon.
Note: Only Send Status Report is linked to Salesforce.
After clicking the icon, the Salesforce section of the Task window will be populated.
Next, we can select the email of the person that will be assigned the task. Once the email is added, the Salesforce window will automatically search for, and link, the contact’s email as shown.
Salesforce also has some additional tabs to choose from. First is Email Template where we can use any saved templates to create a new email.
Second is Log Email on Send, we can select any contacts, leads or accounts where the email address on the Salesforce record matches the email address on the email or event. Or, use the Search Salesforce field to log the email to records not represented in the email. You can also log the email to other record types such as Opportunities.
Emails you log from the integration are logged to the selected records in Salesforce. If an email contains multiple addresses, the first matching alphabetical contact is included as the name on the activity on the Salesforce record.
