Salesforce home screen.
Once you’ve logged-in you’ll be presented with the Salesforce home screen which will look something like this.
- Global Search
Global Search is the easiest way to find donors, donations, files, opportunities and other records across the system. You can search just one area of the salesforce or all simultaneously. It has a drop-down facility so you can see your recent searches and as you start typing search criteria it will try to assist you along the way.
- App Launcher
Like a modern mobile phone, your Salesforce platform is a great starting point, but it can do more when you add Apps. The AlphaSys Fundraising Accelerator is a group of apps and you’ll spend a lot of time inside these AlphaSys apps. More on that later, but for now understand that you click on this button to access the App Launcher to allow you to switch between apps in salesforce, and search for object tabs.
- Navigation Bar
The Navigation Bar is a set of tabs and functions specific to the particular app that you are in at the moment. As you change between apps, you’ll see different tabs and functions become available. Some tabs have a handy drop-down menu arrow just to the right of the tab name to provide you with quick access to functions such as creating a contact or opportunity.
- Favorites List
Overtime you’ll find that you use certain tabs, records or functions more than others. You can use the Favorites button to add your favorite functions to your favorites lists which you can use to quickly access.
- Global Actions
There are a variety of functions that need to be accessible in any app. Things like, adding a new contact or new organization. These functions can be access from any app through the Global Actions menu.
- Salesforce Help
Need to know more about how something works? Clicking on the Help button provides you with instant access to standard Salesforce help and training resources.
The Setup menu allows you to customize your copy of Salesforce. Note, you must have appropriate permissions to access this function.
This button provides you with access to alerts and unread notifications such as task reminders and approval requests.
