The household soft credit process discussed in the previous section is specifically developed for household management. But there are a wide variety of other types of soft credit arrangements we need to handle as well.
The specific nature of these will be dependent upon the nature your organisation and the setup of your Salesforce org, but let's go through a common example that of a gift influencer.
In this example Bon Scott has been a long-time major supporter for your organisation. Not only does he make financial contributions, he uses his influence to encourage friends to give to our cause as well.
Bon has convinced his friend Steven Bishop to make a generous contribution. In this case a full $50,000.
Steven of course will receive his receipt and thanks, but we also want to make sure we've captured the impacts of Bon's contribution as well.
To do this, we locate the Opportunity that was added to Steven Bishop and open that opportunity.
On their opportunities Related tab, scroll down to the section titled Contact Roles.
You can see at the moment there are no additional roles associated with this opportunity. We are going to add a role by clicking the Add Contact Roles button. Later on, you can maintain contact roles by using the Edit Contact Roles button.
In the Add Contact Roles window, we search for the Bon Scott contact record to add his role to the opportunity.
Next, we must define the nature of Bon's role was with this opportunity. In this case he was the Influencer. So, we select that Role and allocated against his name.
Once completed click on the Save button and this will add Bon's contact role against the opportunity.
Once the overnight rollups process has completed, you will see this gift recognized on Bon's contact record.
